Sakura (Japanese: カードキャプターさくら), is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the manga group Clamp. The story centers on Sakura Kinomoto, an elementary school student who discovers magical powers after accidentally freeing a set of magical cards into the world; she must retrieve the cards to prevent catastrophe. Each of these cards grants different magical powers, and can only be activated by someone with inherent magical abilities.

Eriol is an incarnation of Clow, the creator of the Clow Cards (a series of cards resembling tarot cards with various magical powers within them). He transfers to Tomoeda Elementary School from England soon after events of the Clow Card Arc and plays a main role in the events of Sakura Cards Arc. In the Clear Card Arc, he is a supporting character alongside his lover Kaho Mizuki and guardians.
Syaoran Li is another main character of the series and a distant relative of Clow Reed – creator of the Clow cards. As a member of the Li clan in Hong Kong, to which Clow’s mother was a member, Li Syaoran believes that he is the rightful owner of the Clow cards and not Sakura.

Touya is Sakura's older brother. Yukito Tsukishiro, the borrowed form of Yue, is his boyfriend. His birthday is on February 29th, which makes him a leap year baby, a person that can only "properly" celebrate their birthday once every four years. His blood type is O.
Tomoyo is the daughter of the President of Daidouji Toy Company, Daidouji Sonomi. So, she has a whole team of female bodyguards accompanying her to protect and help wherever she goes. Despite her wealth, she’s never arrogant or conceited because of it. On the contrary, Tomoyo is very affectionate, kind, and generous with everyone.

Yue is a Guardian of the Clow Cards created by Clow Reed, along with Cerberus. While Cerberus acts as the Selector, choosing a candidate to become the next Master of the Clow, Yue is the Judge who will test the candidate.

Cerberus/Kero is the summoned beast that rules over the Fire and Earth Clow cards, with his symbol being the Sun. Kero was assigned by Clow Reed, the creator of the Clow cards, to find a new owner for the cards when he died.
